Built for Rock'n'Roll (i was)

Hace un tiempo Crunchbang Linux -conocida y ligera distribución linux basada en Debian y OpenBox- dejó de desarrollarse.

El proyecto está siendo continuado por dos distribuciones: Crunchbang++ y Bunsen Labs Linux.

Ambas distribuciones están basadas en Debian y OpenBox, como su antecesor.

En esta línea de distribuciones ligeras y ágiles sin renunciar a prestaciones existe otra distribución Linux que está llamando mi atención:
Ubuntu Mate, un ligero, estable y fácil de usar sistema operativo ideal para aquellos que desean sacarle partido a su computadora y prefiere un escritorio tradicional.
Con modestos requerimientos de hardware, es plenamente operativa tanto en máquinas moderans, como antiguas. Ubuntu Mate hace que los ordenadores actuales sean rápidos y usables los viejos.

Yo tenía un viejo portátil [Dell Latitude d430] con 2 sistemas operativos que coexistían en perfecta armonía: Windows XP proffessional y Crunchbang Linux 12.
En su día -cuando los instalé- primero instalé Windows, y luego Crunchbang. Lo hice adrede, porque es de todos conocido que Windows se carga el arranque de Linux; sin embargo Crunchbang -y la inmensa mayoría de Linux modernos- instala un arranque Grub2 en el cual hace constar una entrada para arrancar con Windows cuando sea menester.
La estructura de mi disco duro era la siguiente:
Discos duros: 1
Particiones:
 sda1: sistema de diagnóstico de Dell (partición de diagnóstico). FAT32. Inútil.
 sda2: Windows XP Proffessional. NTFS.
 sda3: Crunchbang Linux 12, ext3.
 sda4: partición swap para Linux.

Hace unos días me vi obligado a reinstalar Windows XP Proffessional. Efectivamente, Windows se cargó el excelente arranque Grub2 multisistema y en su lugar puso su propio arranque, en virtud del cual arrancaba el solito (no me permitía elegir con qué sistema arrancar).
Para volver a aquella situación ideal de antaño, con un Grub2 que me permitía elegir con qué sistema arrancar, hice lo siguiente (básicamente reinstalar Grub2):
1. Arranqué con un Live Cd, en este caso un Live USB de Crunchbang 12 [aunque probablemente valdría Ubuntu oficial o, incluso, un live cd o usb de otra distribución linux].

1)Using synaptic install:
lgeneral
lgc-pg

Lgeneral package installs:
a) lgeneral ( binary executable ) in /usr/games
b) /usr/share/games/lgeneral folder
c) doc in /usr/share/doc/lgeneral

lgc-pg installs:
a) lgc-pg ( binary executable ) in /usr/bin
b) /usr/share/games/lgc-pg folder
c) /usr/share/doc/lgc-pg folder
d) man in /usr/share/man/man6

2) open a console and type "lgeneral" just to check that the binary is working.
Remember, we don't have any installed scenario yet
Exit the game.

3) from

download "pg-data.tar.gz"
Untar and unzip it to your home directory.
You now have the "pg-data" folder in your home dir


4) Installing the data:
Obviously, the person who created the lgc-pg Ubuntu package ( thanks to him/her ) did a few small mistakes, but we'll correct them.
So, with the "sudo nautilus" command open the pg-data folder and rename the following files:
flags.shp to FLAGS.SHP
tacicons.shp to TACICONS.SHP
explode.shp to EXPLODE.SHP
tacmap.shp to TACMAP.SHP
scenstat.bin to SCENSTAT.BIN

Now, we are ready to install the data using the lgc-pg program.
lgc-pg needs 2 directories:
a) the source directory ( where the pg-data dir is located. In our case, our home directory )
b) the destination directory ( where to install the data, in our case, /usr/share/games/lgeneral )
So, open a console and type ( in 1 line )

sudo lgc-pg -s /home/YourHomeDirectory/pg-data -d /usr/share/games/lgeneral

If successful, that's the message you should get:

Tuxguitar es la alternativa libre a Guitar Pro. Es 100% compatible con los archivos de guitar pro.
Para hacerlo funcionar:

1. Desde synaptic instalar TuxGuitar

2. Desde terminal:
sudo apt-get install timidity

3. Ejecutar TuxGuitar
Menú Herramientas --> Preferencias --> Sonido
Configurar el puerto MIDI como Timidity port 0 [128:0] o similar.
